Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350F. Lay the meat on the bottom of the 9×13 pan, touching but not overlapping as much as possible. In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream and onion dip mix to create French onion dip.
Spread the mixture evenly over the pork chops using a rubber spatula, ensuring that it covers the entire surface so that no portions of the meat are exposed. Sprinkle crispy fried onions evenly over the top. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and cook for an additional 30 minutes, or until the meat is fully cooked through. This last baking time will depend on the thickness of your pork chops.
There is no need to pre-season the pork chops with this recipe, as the onion dip mix adds plenty of flavors. A four-ingredient dish is perfect for a large family or a last-minute company gathering. Serve with vegetables, mashed potatoes, a side salad, and/or, of course, applesauce.
I like to serve these smothered pork chops on a weeknight when I’m most in need of a quick, easy, one-pan meal; but you could EASILY serve this up to company. It looks and tastes fancy, and only you have to know how easy it truly was to make!
